Independent Liquor Group Co-operative Ltd had been using
the General Ledger module of CBA since 1992 and had
not initially chosen to add updates as the CBA system
progressed.
Over the years as the group expanded its
business, they felt that their CBA system needed to
be upgraded to the latest version. This was carried
out and gave them a consistently reliable and efficient
base for their financial management. To further keep
pace with Group’s growth, Independent Liquor Group
indicated their desire to modernize their systems and
move to the Greentree product.
“The main reason for using Greentree is that it gives us more system integration. It removes the need for manual tasks, therefore making our processes far more effi cient and productive.”
Accountant Stephen Williams says the move to Greentree
was prompted by the need for a fully automated accounting
system. He says, “The main reason for using Greentree
is that it gives us more system integration. It removes
the need for manual tasks, therefore making our processes
far more efficient and productive.”
Today, Independent Liquor Group has over 600 member
liquor shops and hotels in New South Wales, Victoria
and Queensland. The main businesses are the wholesaling
and distribution of wine and spirits, and the promotion
of various buying groups. They have operated for 27
years and turnover in excess of $180M. They will use
Greentree for inter-company reporting across the group.
As part of the implementation, Greentree will interface
with Independent Liquor Group’s own industry specific
system. Williams explains, “Incorporating data
from different sources is time-consuming, with Greentree
it should be easier. The ability to upload and download
data to and from Greentree and our internal system is
vital for our business.”

The team at the NSW based Greentree Business Partner
has successfully migrated the CBA system to Greentree.
There have four users using the full suite of financial
modules. “The Windows functionality is so user
friendly. We see great potential in using the general
ledger, cash receipting, fixed assets and creditor features
to the maximum, “ says Williams.
Whilst still in the early stages of implementation,
the move to Greentree is seen as a positive step for
Independent Liquor Group. Williams concludes, “There
is no question about it, Greentree gives us more scope
to improve processes. Just after the initial training
we can already see the vast benefits we will get from
Greentree.”
