Welcome to the launch of GT3
– the latest version of the Greentree
business- building solution.
Given Greentree’s innovative constant improvement and continuous software release approach, as opposed to the typical industry annual release, you may be asking why create a fanfare around just 1 release, why GT3?
We are celebrating all of the wonderful functionality that has been added to the Greentree product over the last couple of years, some of the examples of this include the new Manufacturing suite (see article on the addition of Quality Control), Approval and Alerts, Web Services Connectivity and the new HR suite. A huge driver in this continuous improvement is our customers' needs and inputs combined with our own innovations.
What better way to celebrate this GT3 achievement than with a great new product look plus many areas of improved visibility of information. Check out Graphs, Data Explorer and Business Intelligence and the many new capabilities in GT3.
And now “back to the future”. The release of GT3 is definitely not a static point and there will be no waiting for the industry typical “next year until the next release”. Greentree is pushing ahead with its continuous product improvements and other major initiatives and GT3 creates the platform for Business Process Management and Mobile Applications – both of which will be progressively rolled out during 2007.
Again many thanks for your support and encouragement. We hope that with GT3 and beyond you can see that your support is well placed.

The ‘New’ Look
Wow, Greentree GT3 introduces a fresh new look that begins when users startup Greentree, through the login screen, background and then on to all the forms and menus. We have designed this new look to be easy on the eye and yet provide a colourful working environment for you to use. But wait, there's more, the impact doesn’t just stop with the look and feel, users will now find colourful graphs on the each of the masterfiles that present visually compelling information specific to that item.
This serves to indicate how Greentree reveals the value beyond just what you see on the surface.
We have also introduced a number of exciting new capabilities in GT3 that will make using Greentree and finding information even easier. For example you will now find a new option on the file menu called "Menu Search". Have you ever been daunted by trying to find a particular menu option? Well now we have made that easier. With ‘Menu Search’ type in the first few letters of the menu option and press enter, and all menu options that contain those letters will be displayed and you can select and action the one you want.
As can be seen from this screen, we have undertaken a complete facelift of Greentree forms. From a new soft graduated colour background for each form and tab, through to colourful and larger set of Icons on the menu bar. And to enhance consistency, all masterfile forms now come standard with transaction launch buttons on the side bar (excludes Fixed Assets which will follow shortly).
Each form will also include a Related Tab to enable visibility and drill through to ALL related activities, from all suites for that item. Also, an Analysis Tab is now available on many of the forms to show 'contextual Intelligence/trends' related to that instance. Note that this can be turned off per user.
A key objective was to incorporate some of the direction of ‘Vista’ while still providing an uncluttered yet functional user experience. We think that difficult dynamic balance has been achieved and we hope you feel the same. |

360 Degree View
We have continued our work to expand visibility of information within Greentree and GT3 introduces several new capabilities including a related tab for the AP Masterfile maintenance and Enquiry forms (related tabs will be progressively added across the product), users are able to see all related activities for a Supplier, not just AP transactions. Now that really is a panoramic view!
We have also continued our efforts to provide consistency of use and the ability to drive all required functions from one Masterfile form, with Transaction entry launch buttons now having been added to the GL, AR, AP and CM Maintenance forms and a tidy up on IN and JC to increase consistency.
But that’s not all, users should take look at Explorer and Business Analyst in detail for more exciting capabilities when finding and analysing the information within the Greentree system. And better still customers don’t have to buy any additional modules to get these powerful new tools, they come standard. |

Quality Control
Greentree’s new QC module is designed to allow manufacturing and distribution customers to automate their Quality Control processes for serial/lot tracked items.
Greentree’s Quality Control module provides the ability to design tests, group these within test classifications and then assign these to serial/lot tracked inventory items as well as non inventory items. When Inventory is received from the manufactory floor or receiving dock, the relevant test suite can be automatically generated and only on successful completion of those tests, plus optional secondary approval, are these items made available for sale.Tests can be designed and used to monitor and approve a range of environmental or process based measures that may not be specifically related to inventory, for example, the temperature and humidity of a laboratory. Greentree’s Quality Control module has been designed to support use of our Approvals and Alerts module to deliver automatic notification of test requirements as well as multi level approvals.
With GT3 QC, we’re ensuring top quality every time! |

QlikView for Greentree Customers
The cutting edge QlikView for Greentree is fast becoming the ‘must have’ analysis and reporting tool. Business information previously ‘locked away’ is revealed and the rave reviews reflect the difference the tool is making.
Obviously the invigorating transformation of information visibility can positively impact very quickly and a business can soon benefit from seamless access to empowering data.

“Sometimes, with the “ooh’s and ahh’s”, you’d think we were sampling some gourmet pasta filling, but no… it was QlikView showing them the information we wanted to see in the format we wanted to see it in. I honestly think QlikView truly unlocks the inherent power of the Greentree database.”

Business Analyst Graphing
The Greentree Business Analyst allows key information to be viewed graphically, and gives the ability to customise the graph to suit each user. The presentation of graphs enables comparisons and patterns in data to be made. Specific values belonging to Suppliers, Customers, Fixed Assets, General Ledger accounts, and Inventory items can be viewed graphically for individual items. The information that is graphed is also displayed in a table, where users can select whether or not data series are to be displayed.
The Graph Designer is a very useful tool for performing queries and presenting graphs of such information, for example; depict the 10 top selling inventory items last month, the customers with the highest overdue balances in the last 6 months, the sales year to date for customers belonging to a specified salesperson, and so on. The visible level of flexibility and simple graphical representation within the tool, provides yet another vital layer of business understanding in GT3.

Data Import Manager
Greentree Data Import Manager automates file imports from other systems into Greentree. The Import Manager is advanced Workflow functionality that allows users to schedule regular imports of ASCII transaction types and master files such as Customers, Suppliers and Inventory Items as well as transactions such as invoices, receipts, and Journals. The module has a field mapping function so it does not rely on a fixed format and it provides translation of actual data values during import.
Full audit trail and error reporting is provided including remote advice via email. Import of files such as word documents, excel documents and graphical images which can be attached to records within Greentree, is a key feature also supported. |
| |
Direct Debits
Greentree direct debits module provides the ability to automatically create the bank interface file to directly debit the customers’ accounts for Accounts Receivable invoices in Greentree. Users can specify which customers are to be direct debited and which invoice types are to be included. The module provides automatic processing and reinstatement for any dishonors, including back charging of bank fees to the direct debit customer. |
| |
Organisation Charts
The Greentree Human Resources Management suite now has the ability to generate graphical organisation charts, using an interface to Visio. The new org chart feature is based on defined positions, rather than individuals, so that the structure of the reporting chart can be maintained regardless of personnel changes. As part of this new feature, the ability to define positions has been moved from the recruitment module into HR Basics, so that it is available to a wider range of customers.

More FREE
With the Greentree FREE (Financial Reporting Engine in Excel) Framework enhancement program, the first deliverable is the introduction of CRM options within FREE and the first function to be delivered is the ability to upload CRM Quotes and this will follow shortly after the full GT3 release. |

JADE 6.1
Greentree is built in Jade. GT3 moves us to the next JADE platform being Version 6.1. The first major benefit this provides is access to a new set of capabilities that allows customers to publish Greentree data on a scheduled basis into Microsoft SQL Server. From there a wealth of Business Intelligence and reporting tools (including Qlikview) are available, as well as aggregate data with other non Greentree systems for consolidated analysis and reporting.
This functionality is provided by JADE's Relational Population Service (RPS). RPS also provides the capability for hot standby database support, so in the event of major hardware failure customers can hot swap to a secondary copy. Keeping up with JADE product releases ensures that any performance benefits that are delivered are available and also that language and database enhancements (like RPS) can be factored into our future product design and development plans. The upgrade to 6.1 re-affirms JADE as a highly flexible and robust development platform. |
Around the corner... |
Business Process
Management Framework
GT3 introduces a new framework designed to enable Business Process Management across the entire application. What this will mean for Greentree customers is that business processes that are staff and business specific can be defined and controlled by an automated process manager.
Today's business world is increasingly focused on ensuring visibility of process and approval mechanisms, and Greentree BPM combined with Approvals and Alerts will ensure that business is positioned to comply. Having processes defined also means considerable savings in training time when new staff join the team.
The design of BPM has been especially focused on it being non technical, so management or IT staff can establish these processes without reliance on programmers. With this framework now in place, expect to see BPM capabilities start to appear through 2007. |

Inventory Budgets
Preparation of budgets is always a time consuming and reiterative process. Greentree Inventory Budgets has been designed to facilitate this process, and to provide a simple and easy means of data entry. An annual budget quantity and a budget value are all that is required to commence the process with pre-defined user quantity and value spreads automatically extrapolating the quantities and values into each calendar period.
Quantity spreads cater for seasonal fluctuations while the price spreads cater for increases/decreases in value or special promotions for specific periods throughout the calendar year. As any number of quantity and value spreads can be pre-defined, and with a range of combinations for entering the budgets, the reiterative process can quickly and easily be run with different configurations and strategies until the desired results are obtained. |

|
The screen shows the results of the quantity and value spreads being applied to an annual quantity and base value for a branch / customer combination with the ability to manually fine tune the resulting calculations.

 Mobility & Web Services Framework
Being able to deploy JADE thin client on mobile devices such as PDA's will allow Greentree to rollout numerous PDA based applications including Inventory related capabilities such as Inventory counts, warehouse picking and goods receipting functions.

Greentree.mobi
Greentree.mobi has been unleashed…Always one step ahead, Greentree is now represented on the world wide web for PDA and mobile phone browsers.
This website is accessible by any online means but is targeted at providing pda/internet phone users with access to basic Greentree/Contact info.
The .mobi site iterates our intentions in this environment, while serving as a starting point for future development. Over time it is envisaged the mobile content, function and form will develop considerably to meet this emerging market.

GT3 for you!
It’s almost become expected that the way Greentree operates is to automatically provide customers with the latest and greatest functionality and enhancements. But what makes GT3 worth shouting about is just the sheer quantity and standard of all that we are talking about here. We believe GT3 delivers tangible added value, helping make a sustainable difference both to the user experience and overall business flexibility and integration.
Greentree has always been feature rich, robust and reliable. Maybe now we can add 3 more to that list…powerful, smart and stylish.
A high performance model indeed ! |
